These images stem from an interest in traditional documentary photographic practices as well as pixel-based manipulations and sculpture. My photographs begin as a record of mark-making from automobile accidents upon Las Vegas' topography. Then the negatives are scanned into the computer where I digitally explore the images’ subject matter through repurposing tools originally intended for commercial photographic retouching. Such methods are inversely applied to accentuate, and often times compliment the mistakes. As a result the images draw comparisons between digital technology, fine art, photography, and social practices. Finally the images are explored through their output onto media determined by their content (i.e. a photograph of dented metal printed directly onto metal which is then dented).
